Pressure Reducing Valve
CMM GWS recommends that all connections are fitted with a pressure reducing valve.
Water Pressure Reducing Valves are required as the pressure in the water main is at higher pressures in the supply mains. This is to ensure an adequate supply water, and to overcome loss of pressure as the elevation increases throughout the scheme. Pressure in water supply mains can exceed 200psi. Regulations and best practice requires water pressure reducing valves on domestic systems where the water main's pressure exceeds 80psi. Higher pressures could rupture pipes, damage fixtures, and injure the people using them.
Promoting Water Conservation - High water pressures waste water. Twice as much water flows through a system at 150psi pressure than at 50psi. Much of this additional water is wasted. Providing a pressure reducing valve will also assist in your water conservation.
