The scheme has two storage reservoirs located at Carn, Ballyjamesduff and Croaghan, Virginia. The two reservoirs have a combined storage volume of 2650 m3 or 584,760 gallons when full. The water is pumped from Carn Reservoir at night to Croaghan Reservoir, which serves the Knocktemple, Maghera, Island, Munterconnacht and Ballyduorrow areas.

A number of different types of water meters have been used throughout the scheme. The meters only vary in appearance, as they all function the same.

The Scada monitoring system monitors live data sent from remote locations around the scheme. The flow of water at each location is shown.
CMM GWS monitors the water usage throughout the scheme with the aid of bulk flow meter located at intervals around the distribution network. The bulk flow meters are located in green kisok, commonly located at road junctions. The data collected by the bulk flow meters is sent back to a monitoring system which can alert the caretaker of any possible leaks.
