The scheme has two storage reservoirs located at Carn, Ballyjamesduff and Croaghan, Virginia. The two reservoirs have a combined storage volume of 2650 m3 or 584,760 gallons when full. The water is pumped from Carn Reservoir at night to Croaghan Reservoir, which serves the Knocktemple, Maghera, Island, Munterconnacht and Ballyduorrow areas.
Raw water is extracted from Nadreegeel Loughs by Cavan County Council (Irish Water)

A number of different types of water meters have been used throughout the scheme. The meters only vary in appearance, as they all function the same.

The Scada monitoring system monitors live data sent from remote locations around the scheme. The flow of water at each location is shown.
The water weter is located within a water meter box, which is contained below ground level. The meter box can be found by locating the black plastic lid as shown. The meter box will generally be located along your site boundary and the road.
