The Carn Reservoir is the primary water storage reservoir. Secondary chlorination is provided at this location.
The Contract for Stage 1 was signed with P.Clarke & Sons, Lisnaskea, for €1,838,998.24 The picture shows the Committee members at the time of signing. The Croaghan Reservoir is the secondary water storage reservoir. Secondary chlorination is provided at this location.

The scheme has two storage reservoirs located at Carn, Ballyjamesduff and Croaghan, Virginia. The two reservoirs have a combined storage volume of 2650 m3 or 584,760 gallons when full. The water is pumped from Carn Reservoir at night to Croaghan Reservoir, which serves the Knocktemple, Maghera, Island, Munterconnacht and Ballyduorrow areas.
Raw water is extracted from Nadreegeel Loughs by Cavan County Council (Irish Water)

A number of different types of water meters have been used throughout the scheme. The meters only vary in appearance, as they all function the same.
