Scheme size, location, number of meters

  • The scheme has in excess of 800 metered connections.
  • The distribution pipework is in excess of 95 kilometers
  • The scheme has two storage reservoirs located at Carn, Ballyjamesduff and Croaghan, Virginia. The two reservoirs have a combined storage volume of 2650 m3 or 584,760 gallons when full. The water is pumped from Carn Reservoir at night to Croaghan Reservoir, which serves the Knocktemple, Maghra, Island, Munterconnacht and Ballydurrow areas. The Ross and Racaveen areas of the scheme are supplied directly from the Lismeen plant via Mountnugent. All other areas of the scheme are supplied from the Carn Reservoir. Secondary chlorination takes place at the Carn and Croaghan reservoirs.

Scada computer system located at Croaghan reservoir. This system monitors the water flow throughout the scheme and contols the pumps / reservoir levels.

 

Raw water is extracted from Nadreegeel Loughs by Cavan County Council (Irish Water)
