Welcome
Irish Water

Dear Member,
Following recent media reports about Uisce Éireann/Irish Water, you may have concerns about how all of this might affect your water supply and the future of Castlerahan Mountnugent Munterconnacht Group Water Scheme.
Like all other Group Water Schemes across Ireland, CMM does not come under the auspices of Irish Water. We will however need to buy our water from them as formerly our source was Cavan County Council. The consumers served by this scheme will retain the right to set its own level of charges but these must be consistent with the need to run a viable business.
Irish Water intend to write to all households in the country with a bill for water for 2014 and the onus is on the householder to contact them and have their name removed from the Irish Water data base if they have an alternative water supply (ie. Group Water Scheme connection or own well).
A conservation grant of €100 per year is to be paid for the next 4 years to any household who has registered with Irish Water prior to June 30th 2015. To register just go online to www.water.ie. We encourage all our members to register.
The subsidy paid to CMM from Cavan County Council has been reduced from €70 per domestic consumer to €45 per domestic consumer. This reduction took effect from January 1st 2015. To make up for this shortfall in subsidies, CMM had to increase their standing charge from €90 to €120 per year. CMM also reduced the amount of free water allowance to each domestic consumer from 100 cubic meters to 90 cubic meters with the pricebeing charged for water remaining at 90 cent per cubic meter. This price change will come into effect when bills are issued in November 2015.
If you should receive a bill from Irish Water, do not pay it as you will receive your bill in the usual manner from CMM Group Water Scheme.
We would also urge our members to be alert to bogus correspondence from criminal elements pretending to be from ‘Irish Water’. These have already been busy, requesting bank details etc. from members of the public. Don’t ever give out such details, but please alert the authorities, so it can be followed up.
If you have any further queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us. Further updates will also be available on our new website www.cmmgws.com
Yours sincerely,
Winifred Acheson
